BLOODY MARY - SYRUP MAGAZINE FEATURED DRINK

 The Bloody
Mary cocktail first originated from Harry’s New York
Bar in Paris. It was first mixed by “Pete” Petoit.
When Pete came back to New York in the 1930’s, he first
introduced the Red Snapper as America’s first Bloody Mary
drink (which was made with Gin not Vodka). The name can be given
credit to Mary Tudor, the daughter of Henry VIII. Mary was Queen
for five years and killed most of her Protestant enemies. Which
in return, gave her the nickname “Bloody Mary.”
This classic cocktail recipe is a refreshing wake up call
and it has turned into an All-American cocktail, which means
it will probably be around forever. It is considered to be
a great hangover cure and bartenders are constantly adding
to the creativity of the mixed drink. You can create your
own signature recipe by adding or subtracting ingredients
in the cocktail. Horseradish? Wasabi? Jalapeños? Whatever
tickles your feather, be as original and inventive as you
can. Some restaurants are now serving Bloody
Mary bars. They contain a smorgasbord of garnishes. The
more variety you have, the more the cocktail turns into a
meal of its own. Below is a list of ingredients you might
want to include in your own Bloody Mary Bar.
